Chorley Council confirms it is "in discussions" with Sports Direct to bring new store to Market Walk
Chorley Council had been approached for comment, but due to the confidential nature of discussions between the two parties, the authority was unable to confirm the proposal.

Hide AdBut today (February 4), the Post can confirm that Chorley Council is in advanced discussions with Sports Direct about a potential new store that could open this spring.
Coun Alistair Bradley, leader of Chorley Council, told the Post: "We are in discussions with Sports Direct and will provide further information when we have any news."
He said a signed agreement is not yet in place, but discussions are ongoing.
If an agreement is reached, Sports Direct would join an M&S Foodhall, a six-screen Reel Cinema, crazy golf course, bowling alley, and Loungers restaurant at the Market Walk extension.

Hide AdThe store is expected to open in unit 4 on the ground floor of the Market Walk extension.
With a floor area of 8,573 sq ft, the unit is the second largest retail space in the extension (M&S Foodhall being the largest).
The latest version of the Market Walk lettings brochure states that unit 4 is currently under offer, with three smaller units (2, 3 and 5) still available.
Sports Direct have not responded to requests for comment.
