Shipping container catches fire close to Cuerden Valley Park and M6

A shipping container caught fire close to the M6 earlier today.

The incident happened in woodland just off Wigan Road close to junction 29 of the motorway.

It's not known how the fire started but footage sent to the LEP shows a container engulfed in flames with other shipping containers closeby.

A crew from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) were also spotted at the incident.

LFRS was contacted for comment.
