Coronation Street's Stan Ogden never seems to have much brass so it came as a big of a bonus when Stan - alias actor Bernard Youzens - was invited to join two brass bands - Brindle Brass Band and Poulton-le-Fylde Brass Band - in a Preston Guild Hall rehearsal. 28. Preston sports clubs were hoping to have raised about £200 from their western-style barbecue, which proved a great success. Some 600 people devoured 1,000 rolls filled with fried egg, sausage and bacon, all cooked on an open fire at South Meadow Lane Sports and Social Club
